Chris (senior)

I've decided to blog all my recent shoots because blogging is important! So we're going all the way back to May for this one. I was going to do one big post with all my favorites from my recent sessions, but decided that each session deserved it's own glory. Let the marathon blogging begin!

I took Chris' brothers pictures last year and now it was his turn. He graduated this spring and is heading to St. Francis to study art education. I had a great time walking around downtown and finding cool spots with him and his mom. We even ventured on top of a parking garage, which I loved. This was my first shoot back since having Holden and it couldn't have gone better. Enjoy!

What I've been up to

The past 5 months or so have been a blur. A good blur. I became a mom on March 17th, 2011 to Holden Jarrett Buwalda. He was 17 days past his due date or I was 17 days late. Either way we were very late. Many times I've sat down to write my birth story and I just can't get it out. So much happened in the 17 days waiting for him and I don't think I'm quite ready (or ever will be) to write it all out. The only thing that matters now is that he is here and healthy!

One day old and just perfect.
Just amazed.
Motherhood for me has certainly had its ups and downs. I didn't really have experience with a newborn before Holden. Of course I knew there would be sleepless nights, but I never knew how much the lack of sleep would affect me. Let's just put it this way, I had some rough days. Praise God that after a few months things got easier. I started to fit into my new role and Holden got adjusted to life outside the womb. Life has been just about perfect ever since.

The little man at 2 weeks
My life changed when he started to smile (8 weeks old)
Fast forward to now and he is just huge. He smiles. He laughs. He rolls around. He is getting up on all fours. It just breaks my heart that he would grow up so fast. People always tell you how fast it goes, but you never believe them. When he was a few weeks old screaming in the middle of the night I never thought he would grow up. Not that he is grown up now, but he is so much different than he was as a newborn.

the sweetest buddy you'll ever meet! (4 months old)

I took this picture just last week. He is almost 5 months now.

In a nutshell that's what I've been up to. So what is in store for Buwalda Photography? Well, hopefully a lot! I'm staying home with Holden and I finally have time to focus on my business. I've had quite a few shoots this summer (and also a wedding!) that have kept me busy. I've posted most of this work on my facebook page and I'll be updating the blog soon. I updated the blog the other night and now I have prices listed and a little section about myself so check it out.

If you've made it this far, thanks for reading! A little long of a post, but I wanted to share what I've been doing. More to come later.
